Arunachal records cent percent deposition of arm licences ahead of general elections: CEO

Itanagar, Apr 17 (UNI) In a ‘rare’ feat, the election authorities in Arunachal Pradesh achieved 100 percent deposition of arm licenses along with weapons ahead of the April 19 simultaneous elections to the 18th Lok Sabha and 11th Legislative Assembly in the State.
“As I had stated earlier that our efforts were on to ensure 100 percent deposition of arm licences before the polls, I am happy to tell you all that we have achieved the target today,” Chief Electoral Officer of Arunachal Pradesh, Pawan Kumar Sain said in a press conference here on Wednesday.
Noting that it was apparently the first instance in the entire country where people have deposited their arm licences along with weapons at their nearest police stations, the CEO hailed the licencees’ gesture and thanked them for their wholehearted cooperation towards conducting a free, fair and peaceful polls.
