Guwahati, Jul 22 (UNI) Assam recorded a massive spike in number of new COVID 19 cases in the last 24 hours as the state government imposed a ban on inter-district movement from today to control further spread of the virus.
As many as 1680 new cases were detected yesterday, taking the overall tally to 26,772, state Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma informed.
The highest single day spike previously was of 1218 cases reported last week, with the state earlier recording more than 1,000 new cases only a handful of times.
