Assam: Cabinet approves constitution of Barak Valley Kiran Sheikh Development Council

Guwahati, Mar 11 (UNI) Assam state cabinet approved the constitution of the Barak Valley Kiran Sheikh Development Council in Barak Valley on Sunday night.


Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma chaired the meeting at Lok Sewa Bhawan in Dispur.

The Cabinet approved the introduction of the Manipuri Mayek script in educational institutions in Assam.

Addressed to the media at the end of the meeting, Cabinet Minister Jayanta Malla Baruwa said this would allow interested students to read Manipuri literature and pursue higher studies in Manipuri in Meitei/Mayek script.

It will also enable candidates from Assam to apply for jobs in Manipur requiring the mandatory knowledge of Meitei and Mayek, he added.

Cabinet approval of 131.71 crore for the beautification of Rang Ghar in Sivasagar. The Cabinet also approved Rs 674.81 crore for the establishment of a new medical college and hospital at R.K. Nagar in Karimganj.

The Cabinet approved Rs 380.66 crore for the construction of the Amingaon Sports Complex in Kamrup.

He said the cabinet approved passing on all incentives applicable under Assam Semiconductor Policy 2023 to Tata Group's Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test (TSAT).

The Cabinet also approved Rs 191.94 crore for the Jorhat Town Water Supply Scheme.

The Cabinet approved the draft Assam State Prosecution Service (Amendment) Rules, 2024, to amend Rules 15 and 19 of the Assam State Prosecution Service Rules, 2023.

This will ensure smooth and efficient conduct of proficiency-cum-skill tests for the selection of candidates by direct recruitment in different categories of posts, he added.

Cabinet approved amendment of "The Medical Colleges and Dental Colleges of Assam (Regulation of Admission into 1st year MBBS/BDS Courses) Rules, 2017 (as amended).
