Maoist activities well under control in Odisha in 2021- White paper

Bhubaneswar, July 20 (UNI) The overall Left-wing extremism scenario in Odisha remained well under control during 2021, a white paper tabled in the Odisha Assembly on Wednesday said.
The intensity of CPI Maoist perpetrated violence declined, the cadre strength of Maoists dwindled, the area of influence of the banned outfit shrunk and the mass support base of the Maoist slackened during the year, it said.
The white paper further said out of the 10 districts of state presently affected by Maoist activities, the situation has remarkably improved in most of the areas including in Swabhiman Anchal of Malkangiri and Kalahandi-Rayagada- Kandhamal axis due to pro-active security and administrative response.

Patna, May 7 (UNI) Despite all efforts of the Election Commission and other stalwarts to attract the voters to the booths to exercise their franchise, polling in the third phase of the elections in five seats namely Jhanjharpur, Supaul , Araria, Madhepura and Khagaria in Bihar had marginal increase of 1.42 percent compared to the second phase of the polling but was still 1.22 percent less than the last Lok Sabha elections held in 2019 in the same five constituencies.
