Excess water of rivers in rainy season will be stored for drinking in Bihar: Nitish

Patna, Mar 14 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said on Wednesday that excess water of rivers during the rainy season would be stored to be used as safe drinking water as the groundwater level had decreased considerably.
Kumar, during a review meeting of the Water Resources Department, said that groundwater had decreased considerably due to a change in climate and an increase in population. In view of the prevailing scenario of water scarcity, the state government had decided to store excess water of rivers during rainy season in Bihar to use it as safe drinking water, he added.
Chief Minister said that state government had launched "Jal Jeevan Hariyali" mission to cope with challenges arising after climate change. Life on Earth could not exist without water and forest cover.
