Paradip Port surpasses Cargo throughput mark in FY 2023–24

Bhubaneswar, Mar 9 (UNI) Paradip Port Authority, has clocked the highest ever cargo throughput of 135.68 MMT since its inception, 23 days in advance of FY 2023–24.
The earlier record was 135.36 MMT achieved in FY 2022–23.
The port, known for its highest productivity and lowest tariff, is expected to draft a new chapter in its history of 57 years by becoming the number one cargo-handling major port in the country during the current fiscal year.
It is poised to touch the historic 145 MMT mark.
PPA Chairman P. L. Haranadh congratulated the Team PPA for this magnificent performance and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
Paradip Port sources said the Cargo volume handled by PPA in the current fiscal till February end exhibited 8.14 percent stellar growth.
The coal handling, amounting to 58.78 MMT, constitutes about 44.42 percent of the total cargo volume handled at the port.
Similarly, the iron ore and pellet cargo has grown by a remarkable 48.86 percent, by clocking 23.79 MMT.
Sources said a record number of 2545 vessels made port of call till March 8 last in comparison to 2200 numbers during the corresponding period in the previous fiscal.
The port has also registered remarkable improvements in the key performance parameters.
The Berth productivity stands at 32751 MT per day per ship, which is the highest among all major ports in the country. The average turnaround time has improved to 41.85 hours from last year's 46.77 hours.
The Port's commitment to operational excellence, coupled with strategic improvements in cargo handling, has positioned it as a key player in catering to the growing needs of the industry.
