Stock market gives a cold shoulder to RBI policy; BSE Sensex ends flat

Mumbai, Apr 5 (UNI) Following the Reserve Bank of India’s decision to keep policy rates unchanged, the stock market reacted cautiously and ended flat on Friday as the BSE Sensex ended at 74248.22, rising 20.59 points.

The RBI kept its rate unchanged for the seventh consecutive meeting today. The central bank also maintained economic growth at 7 percent for fiscal 2024–25.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) gained 0.95 points at 22,513.70.

The NSE registered days high and low at 22,537.60 and 22,427.60 points, respectively.

The banking sector remained in focus. The gainers on Nifty included Kotak Mahindra, SBI Life Insurance, HDFC Bank, Bajaj Finserv, and ITC. The losers were Ultratech Cement, Grasim, Bajaj Auto, and L&T.

The market remained volatile as the Sensex moved up 60 points to 74287.02.

It further gained 134 points at 74361.11, the day high, before closing at 74248.22, up 20.59 points from its previous close.

During the intraday, it dropped 281 points to 73946.82, a day low.
