Centuryply doubles its MDF capacity by commissioning first commercial dispatch from its AP plant

Kolkata, Apr 04 (UNI) Century Plyboards has heralded the commencement of commercial dispatch of Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) from its recently inaugurated 100 per cent subsidiary Century Panels Limited at Badvel, YSR Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh, marking a historic milestone in the company's journey.
This has led to the brand doubling their MDF capacity from 900 to 1900 CBM, according to a media statement on Thursday.
The use of MDF is increasingly finding market acceptance over plywood. Certain products in India such as particle board, MDF, is underpenetrating the market alongside the growth in the real estate market and is going to give the brand a good impetus.
YSR Kadapa district, the potential agro-industry hub of Andhra Pradesh is now under the light of development because of CenturyPly’s new initiative. With an allocated investment of Rs. 1000 crores for the 100-acre greenfield project, the brand instituted the laminate, MDF and PVC unit in Andhra Pradesh on December 23, 2023.
While the first phase of operational production included 2 large size press of laminates, the production and commercial dispatch of MDFs at the unit has given a flying start to the second phase already that boasts an investment of INR 700 crores, just for MDFs. In the coming 3-5 years, the brand also aims to generate direct and indirect employment of 2000+ people in the region of Andhra Pradesh.
While most of CenturyPly’s businesses are growing in double digits, MDF is growing at full tilt at 20 per cent plus, pulling in a substantial scope for growth in this segment. For MDF, the capacity commenced is 3,13,500 CBM in Badvel, Andhra Pradesh, whereas additional capacities have also launched with 60,000 CBM in Hoshiarpur, Punjab in plywood category, in particle board 2,40,000 CBM in Chennai, Tamil Nadu and in laminates 8,55,000 sheets and PVC of 15,000 tonnes again in Badvel, Andhra Pradesh respectively.
Keshav Bhajanka, the Executive Director, exulted in this significant moment, emphasizing its importance in the annals of the company's history.
In his address, Bhajanka extended profound felicitations to all team members, lauding their unwavering dedication and tireless endeavours that led to the timely dispatch of MDF boards. Expressing gratitude,
Bhajanka acknowledged the invaluable support and cooperation extended by the local residents, Local Administration, District Administration, and the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking on the occasion, Keshav Bhajanka, Executive Director, CenturyPly, said, “The commencement of commercial production of MDF signifies a significant stride forward for Century Plywood, epitomizing its commitment to excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction. With a dedicated team and cutting-edge facilities, we are poised to redefine industry benchmarks and emerge as a paragon of quality and reliability."
"In fact, we are happy that we have doubled our MDF capacity from 900 – 1900 CBM. This new capacity increase in the pipeline for the company will boost both revenue and growth scenario of the brand. Additionally, we are also planning to achieve 20% volume as well as value growth.”
