Industrial development sidelined, neglected in Chittoor district since past one decade : Forums

Tirupati, Nov 18 (UNI) The Political and official neglect and apathy has hit the overall industrial development in Chittoor district in spite of having educated and trained manpower, sound air, road and rail connectivity, water and land availability.
The unemployed, economists and industrial forums in this district aver that despite being a gateway district having a smart city like Tirupati, the district industrial development has been sidelined and neglected during the last one decade.
Chittoor district, tail end region of the state, with proximity to Bangalore and Chennai, has huge potential for IT, Automobile and food processing units. But all politics parties and subsequent governments had turned a blind eye to its immense potentials, they alleged.
As of now, only 29 industrial parks have emerged in the district in more than 4005 acres. Though the district has abundant availability of DK lands and huge water source with Handri Neeva and Galeru Nagari projects there was no coordinated efforts to exploit the resources.
When it comes to connectivity, the Chittoor district has the first International state-of-art Airport at Renigunta near here. It is located equidistant to Krishnapatnam and Chennai ports. It is also connected to the entire country by the Railway network.
Half-hearted efforts were launched earlier to make Chittoor as Gateway to east-coast corridor development. Action plans were drawn to acquire land, and also provide Infrastructure of water and power lines, road connectivity and single-window clearances for industrial projects. But nothing clicked as official efforts and political drive went missing in the decades of political wrangles and party politics in the district.
Among the early bird efforts were setting up an electronic products cluster in front of International Airport at Renigunta with mobile majors like Carbon and Selcon. A second Electronic product cluster also has come with multi-national units like Dicksons engineering private limited.
But official apathy and political neglect have stalled industrial growth in rest of the district particularly the Madanapalli region.
The government has announced a Rs 308.23 crore project to set up an EMC-2 ( Electronic Manufacturing Centre) in over 1,179 acres of land in the state. But the potential locations of Tirupati and Madanapalli were ignored.
The educated and unemployed youth are unhappy over the state of affairs in the present YSRCP government as promised industries growth and subsequent jobs have remained a mirage.
They demand a review of the progress of industrial projects once again and stall the industries moving away to neighbouring states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
