Rupee down 53 paise against USD

Mumbai, Oct 3 (UNI) The Rupee on Monday dropped 53 paise to close at 81.87 on rising demand for US Dollar by bankers and importers, dealers at the Foreign Exchange said.

Advancing 52 paise in previous session on Friday, the local unit fell 45 paise at 81.81 in opening trade.

During the day it was lost further and finished at 81.87, slumping 53 paise as compared to its previous close.

The Rupee unit registered days high and low at 81.78 and 81.92 respectively against the US Dollar, dealer

added.
