AP: Building construction workers seek revival of Welfare Board

Kakinada, Apr 7 (UNI) The AITUC-led Building Construction Workers Union, at its monthly meeting here on Sunday, resolved to demand the government revive the Welfare Board for construction workers and implement the welfare schemes.
It also resolved to extend support to those parties in the present elections that agree with their demand for the revival of the welfare board and the implementation of the labor insurance scheme.
Union district secretary Thokala Prasad, while addressing the workers, has alleged that building construction workers were left in lurch and deprived of their legitimate welfare scheme benefits.
He urged the political parties to include their demand for welfare scheme implementation in their manifestos.
Annavaram AITUC city secretary, who presided, said that welfare scheme claims of district building construction workers were pending to the tune of Rs. 5 crore and urged the government to release the claim amount without further delay.
Union leaders Kollu Chandrasekhar, G Suryaprakash, Juvvadula Acharao, Gangarao, Ramakrishna, and Suribabu were among those who attended.
