AIBEA appeals to TN CM Stalin to take up matter about privatisation of PSBs with Centre

Hyderabad, Dec 3 (UNI) All India Bank Employees' Association (AIBEA) on Friday appealed to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin to take up the matter about privatisation of Public Sector Banks (PSBs) with the Union Government as the Centre is going ahead to introduce the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2021, during the ongoing winter session of the Parliament.
AIBEA General Secretary Ch Venkatachalam along with CPI Tamil Nadu Unit Secretary R Mutharasan made this appeal after meeting Mr Stalin at his office in Chennai earlier in the day.
Mr Venkatachalam also requested the TN Chief Minister to address a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard and advise the Members of Parliament from DMK to accordingly take up the issue in the Parliament.
Instead of strengthening the Banks further, the Union Government is trying to privatise the Banks. The Government has decided to bring a Bill in the current session of the parliament to enable the Government to privatise the PSBs, he added.
''To oppose this unwarranted and retrograde move, all bank unions under the banner of United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) had given the call for two-day continuous strike on December 16 and 17 demanding withdrawal of this Bill''.
He also submitted a letter to Mr Stalin and the latter heard our submissions patiently and assured the support.
We thank the Chief Minister for the same, Mr Venkatachalam added.
