Tata motors launches India’s first sub-compact SUV ‘Punch’ starting Rs 5.49 lakhs

Mumbai, Oct 18 (UNI) Auto major, Tata Motors on Monday launched its first sub-compact SUV Punch under its latest offering ‘New Forever’ at an price of Rs 5.49 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The new model earned the 5-star safety rating of 16.453 points from Global NCAP, highest adult occupant protection rating points any vehicle has received in India and 4-star rating (40.891) for child occupant protection, a company statement said.
Shailesh Chandra, president – Passenger Vehicles Business Unit (PVBU), Tata Motors, said, “Designed under Impact 2.0 design language, the PUNCH is a stunning, bold SUV. Its tall stance, high ground clearance and commanding driving position provide an exhilarating driving experience even while navigating all the unexpected challenges that Indian roads throw one’s way. The class leading comfort, advanced infotainment and connectivity match the high expectations of the increasingly discerning Indian car-buyers.”
According to the company, the SUV comes with a new Gen 1.2L Revotron BS-VI engine with latest Dyna-Pro technology. It has advanced AMT with an industry-first ‘Traction Pro’ and offers high ground clearance of 190mm +/-3 mm (Unladen).
It is offered in Engine Drive Modes of City & Eco and has 370 mm water wading capability. Some of the safety features include Dual Airbags, ABS with EBD and Corner Safety Control, Brake Sway Control to detects the tendency of instability during abrupt braking before the ABS kicks in to avoid vehicle swaying from the driving path, Child Seat ISOFIX Anchor Points, Parametric Alarm System, Tata Motors said.
Other features in the SUV Punch include 7" Harman Infotainment system with Android Auto & Apple Carplay 7” TFT Instrument Cluster iRA Connected Car Technology with What3Words & Natural Voice tech.
In addition, customers can mark their Punch by choosing from 7 vibrant colours and further personalize it with the Rhythm and Dazzle customization packs, in tune with their personality, the company statement added.
