New York Film Academy turns 25, launches branch in Mumbai

New Delhi, May 23 (UNI) The New York Film Academy has launched its branch in Mumbai, on the occasion of its upcoming 25th anniversary. Announcing the launch of NYFA's new facility in Mumbai, Kitty Koo, NYFA Vice President – Mumbai, said 'We're thrilled to add this beautiful new location in Mumbai to the global NYFA family. There is no place better than Mumbai, India, the land of Bollywood." The Mumbai filmmaking workshops focus on learning in a hands-on film environment, where students have the opportunity to make a fully-realised final film, Ms Koo said. The film workshops provide students with a strong foundation of acting skills, focussing specifically on the basic elements of the craft of acting, using Stanislavski's System, scene study, and monologue work as starting points. Students also participate in courses aimed specifically at training the actor for the technical requirements of acting on a film set. "We're proud to bring our innovative film and acting for film programmes to Mumbai, India, an epicenter for world cinema. We look forward to teaching a whole new generation of Indian filmmakers and actors," NYFA President Michael Young said. . As those who have taken a workshop with NYFA know, the workload is considered intensive, meaning students must be prepared to live and breathe the programme during their enrollment, Mr Young pointed out. 'Taking experience from NYFA, I was able to get and enact one of the major supporting roles in 'Baahubali',' said NYFA alumnus Rakesh Varre, who plays Setu Patti in 'Baahubali: The Conclusion'. The movie has become the highest grossing Indian film in the history, and has even given an impressive performance in the North American market. With more than 8,000 students from over 100 countries, NYFA offers courses in New York City, Los Angeles, South Beach (Miami), Sydney & Gold Coast in Australia, Florence, Mumbai, India and more.
