New Delhi, Jun 21(UNI) Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla led the Parliamentarians in performing Yoga at Parliament premises on the occasion of International Yoga Day here on Friday.
Mr Birla performed the 'asans' along with Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi, other Ministers and MPs.
BJP lawmaker from Kota in Rajasthan, Mr Birla was on Wednesday elected as the Speaker of the 17th Lok Sabha as an unanimous candidate.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who led the nation on the occasion, while addressing enthusiasts at a mass Yoga demonstration event in Ranchi said, 'Today, with changing times, our focus should be on wellness too, besides preventing illness. Yoga can give us this strength. This is the spirit of Yoga, and of ancient Indian philosophy.'
