New India Assurance to execute health insurance to 1 crore poor families of Rajasthan

Mumbai, Dec 11 (UNI) Country's largest non-life insurer New India Assurance Company Limited will execute health insurance for about one crore poor families to the Rajasthan state.
New India Assurance has bagged Rajasthan Health Insurance Project About four crore people covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) will get health insurance benefits under this project
called the Bhamasha Swasthya Bima Yojana (BSBY),. One of the largest health insurance schemes in the country as it will cover for cashless treatment of 1401 diseases - of Rs 3,00,000 for 663 critical and Rs 30,000 each for 738 general illnesses.
G Srinivasan, CMD of New India Assurance Company Limited, said''This is one of the unique universal health insurance schemes in the country and the scheme is operated through large number of empanelled hospitals both public and private '' A total insurance premium involved is more than Rs.1200 crores
per annum with the state bearing Rs 1,261 per family.
Aim of the Bhamashah Swasthya Bima Yojana is improvement in health indicators, reduction in out of pocket expenses and providing financial security to the poor against illnesses, to roll out Government’s vision of maximum Governance and minimum Government and bring a revolution in healthcare in rural area-by providing stimulus to Private Sector to open hospitals in rural areas and reducing the increasing burden on Government facilities.
