Nearly 6.52 lakh houses constructed under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Bihar: Minister

Patna, Sep 18 (UNI) Bihar government has constructed 6.52 lakh houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY-Gramin) in the state so far.

Sate rural development minister Shravan Kumar said here today that the government had achieved the target of constructing 637,658 houses during 2016-17 and 5,38,959 houses during 2017-18 under PMAY-G. He said the first installment of assistance money had been given to 1067,152 beneficiaries.

Mr Kumar said sanction had been given for the construction of houses of 1110,159 beneficiaries, who had been included in the priority list prepared as per fixed criteria. The construction of houses for nearly 6.52 lakh beneficiaries was already over.

The Minister said that a target of constructing 2073,724 houses was fixed under Indira Awas Yojana from 2012-13 to 2015-16. In these four years, the construction of 1284,026 houses was completed in these four years. The authorities concerned in all districts had been directed to complete the construction of all remaining nearly 5 lakh houses soon.
