NE tourism reached new heights under Modi govt: Jitendra Singh

New Delhi, Oct 14 (UNI) North-East tourism has reached new heights in the last four years because of special thrust and impetus given by the Centre, with the direct indulgence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jitendra Singh said here on Sunday.
Interacting with the members of a young Start-Up group here, after launching the NE Tourism app developed by them, Dr Singh said fast-track progress in providing connectivity to distant areas in the region has inspired tourists from far and wide to look forward to the region as a favourite holiday destination.
In addition, he said, the Ministry of DoNER undertook a campaign showcasing NE across the country, which has also generated unusual interest among potential tourists.

New Delhi, Feb 26 (UNI) Assam will go for Assembly elections in three phases on March 27, April 1 and 6, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in one phase on April 6, while West Bengal in eight phases on March 27, April 1,6,10,17,22, 26 and 29, with counting in all states and the UT on May 2, the Election Commission of India announced here on Friday evening.

New Delhi, Feb 26 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Friday turned down the plea filed by a former district judge from Madhya Pradesh facing disciplinary proceedings in a sexual harassment case, observing it cannot allow sexual harassment cases to be brushed under the carpet.

New Delhi, Feb 26 (UNI) The national anti- terror probe agency NIA on Friday said that it has filed charge sheet today before the Special NIA Court, New Delhi against 11 members of Al Qaeda/Al-Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) from West Bengal and Kerala namely Murshid Hasan aka Sofiq, Mosaraf Hoseen, Mainul Mandal, Lea Yean Ahmed aka Leion, Najmus Sakib, Iyakub Biswas, Samim Ansari, Abu Sufian, Atiur Rahman, Al Mamun Kamal, Abdul Momin Mandal under sections 120B, 121, 121A, 122 of Indian Penal Code and sections 16, 18, 18B, 20, 38, 40 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and section 25 of Arms Act.
