NCPUL holds interactive session with representatives of NGOs, schools, Madarsas

Panaji, Dec 9 (UNI) A one-day interactive session with the representatives of different Non- Government Organisations (NGOs), schools, Madarsas and other institutions was held under the aegis of National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) at Hotel Fidalgo in the city on Sunday.
Addressing the representatives of NGOs, schools, madarsas and other institutions, NCPUL Director Dr Shaikh Aquil Ahmad said NCPUL was an autonomous body under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, and it was mandated to work for promotion of Urdu.
He said, ''Urdu is not a language of one particular region, community, followers of a particular religion but its a language of the entire country. And this is the reason that only there are three languages for which councils have been set up. The languages are Hindi, Urdu and Sindhi. These languages do not belong to just one state. General impression is that Urdu is language of Muslims or a particular community and NCPUL is only for them. But it is not so. The Council for everyone and for the entire country.''
