NCP demands inquiry into multi-crore pulses scam, resignation of Minister Girish Bapat

Mumbai, Nov 26 (UNI) Alleging a major multi-crore corruption scandal in hoarding of pulses such as Tur dal, the Nationalist Congress Party in Maharashtra today demanded that Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Girish Bapat step down from his post pending inquiry under the Commission of Inquiry (CoI) Act.
Talking to media at the party office, NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik said the party has been consistently pressurising the government on this issue.
He accused the ruling BJP government, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, of not heeding the Union Government’s advice on pulses, leading to the rise in prices sky high.
