nCoV: 295 new cases, six deaths in  UT

Puducherry, Jun 19 (UNI) The daily COVID-19 cases in the Union Territory of Puducherry has reduced in the last 24 hours, ending at 10 AM on Saturday, as 295 more persons tested positive for Corona virus while six patients succumbed as against four on Friday.
The UT had recorded 355 new Corona virus cases yesterday.
With this, the infection tally went up to 1,14,596 and death toll to 1,720 in the UT.
According to Covid-19 status released by the health department here, of the 9,015 swab sample tests conducted on June 18, 295 persons tested positive for the virus.
As many as 245 new cases were in Puducherry region, 38 in Karaikal region, four in Yanam region and eight in Mahe region.
About 621 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours. Of them, 493 were from Puducherry region, 95 from Karaikal region, 17 from Yanam region and 16 from Mahe region.
Presently, 499 patients are being treated in Puducherry region, 45 in Karaikal region, 25 in Yanam region and 28 in Mahe region. Another, 3,196 persons diagnosed positive for COVID-19 were under home isolation and taking treatment in all the four regions of the UT.
So far,1,14,596 persons were infected by Corona virus and of which 1,09,083 patients were treated and discharged, 1,720 people died and 3,793 patients were undergoing treatment in hospitals and home isolation.
Among the six deaths, three are women and all died due to COVID related issues. Three of them died in Puducherry region, two in Karaikal region and one in Yanam region.
The test positivity rate in the UT stood at 3.27 per cent, case fatality rate is 1.50 per cent and recovery rate is 95.19 per cent.
As many as 3,81,216 persons, including healthcare workers, frontline workers and general public were given COVID-19 vaccine in the UT so far.
