Navjot Sidhu replaced from Kapil Sharma show after remarks on Pulwama attack

New Delhi, Feb 16 (UNI) Cricketer turned politician Navjot Singh Sidhu has been replaced from 'The Kapil Sharma Show' on Sony entertainment television in the wake of the controversy over his remarks on the Pulwama terror attack in which 40 CRPF jawans were killed, sources said.
Though the channel has not made any official statement on the issue, sources said that Sidhu has been removed from the show and is being replaced by actor Archana Puran Singh.
On Friday, while condemning the terror attack, Mr Sidhu had said that one could not blame the entire nation for acts by a handful of people.
'The terror attack is a cowardly and dastardly act and I condemn it firmly. Violence is always condemnable and those who did it must be punished. For a handful of people, can you blame the entire nation and can you blame an individual?"Sidhu said.
The comments have stirred a controversy with many on the social media demanding his removal from the show.
Punjab Congress General Secretary Pawan Dewan on Saturday demanded dismissal of the Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu and registration of sedition case against him for trying to be the spokesperson for Pakistan.
Mr Dewan urged Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to dismiss Sidhu as he had not only betrayed the country, but also hurt the sentiments of people across the country.
At least 40 CRPF personnel were martyred in a fidayeen attack at Awantipora in south Kashmir district of Pulwama on Srinagar-Jammu national highway on Thursday afternoon.
Terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
