National Highway turned pathetic for plying: People demanded early maintenance

Ambassa (Tripura), Oct 7 (UNI) The parts of the NH 8 stretched over 120 kms from entrance of the state Churaibari up to Ambassa in the northern Tripura district of Dhalai turned pathetic for plying which people demanded to be maintained early here.

The parts of NH 8 is one of the most significant roads in the state as it is the only connecting roadway of Tripura with the rest of the country through Assam. Since last one year, the road turned pathetic. Big craters, ditches, pot holes erupted on the road almost everywhere. When the rain water fills the holes it turns more dangerous.

A driver of a goods carrier identified as Ramesh Singh remarked, "Plying on the road has become very much risky and dangerous. You cannot say what is under water for you. Our vehicles often sustain heavy damage."

A local resident of Ambassa identified as Chandan Pal asserted, "The condition is really deplorable. Accidents happen to occur and passengers also have experience like that was described by Tagore on his on road journey to Shillong."

A roadside vegetable seller from Jamircharra area on the NH identified as Ratanjoy Chakma said, "We witness the pathos of drivers and passengers everyday. At least some early maintenance could relieve the pathos to a great extent".

The stretch of the highway is under the Kumarghat division of National Highway Authority (NHA). When contacted with them, a official on the condition of anonymity disclosed that, lack of funds turned the major obstacle. However, he hoped that the condition would be better within next two to three months.

Now, how long people should suffer the pathos remained the matter to be seen.
