New Delhi/Bengaluru, Dec 28 (UNI) Seeking to court youths just a few months away from the general elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said in the last four-and-half years, his government set up 103 Kendriya Vidyalayas, seven IITs, seven IIMs, one NIT and 14 IIITs.
Interacting with BJP's booth-level workers of Belagavi, Bidar, Dharwad, Haveri and Davangere in Karnataka through video conferencing as part of the party's 'Mera Booth Sabse Mazboot' programme, Mr Modi said the number of undergraduate medical seats increased from 50,000 in 2013-14 to 70,000 now.
He appreciated the role of youth power for bringing about any 'transformation' and said time has come harnessing the demographic dividend and empowering the Yuva Shakti.
He also said his government's works also focused on four 'E's-- education, employment, entrepreneurship and excellence.
He said 2,400 Atal Tinkering Centres were created to boost innovation.
On the employment front, he said, the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) data shows that lakhs of regular jobs were created every year in infrastructure development projects such as rail, road and airports.
"Today's youth wants to be job creators and not just job seekers," Prime Minister said adding "who better than the state of Karnataka know better than the power of youth".
Prime minister said the tourism industry can grow even further with the help of 3Ts - tradition, talent and trade.
"India is witnessing an increased arrival of tourists, which augurs well for our economy," he said.
