Bengaluru, Nov 13 (UNI) Mortal remains of Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertiisers and Parliamentary Affairs H N Ananth Kumar, who died in a city hospital on Novembr 12, was confined to flames with full Military honour at Chamarajapet Crematorium in the city on Tuesday.
Mr Ananth Kumar's brother Nanda Kumar performed the last rites lit the pyre as per Hindu religion practice. Little earlier, Gun salute was given by Defence personal as a mark of respect to the departed soul and the national flag was removed from the body. The flag was handed over to the family members of Mr Kumar.
The 59 year-old leader, a six-time Lok Sabha member from Bengaluru South segment, began his political career being a student leader of ABVP and rose to became Union Minister. He breathed his last fighting lung cancer. He underwent treatment in London and again in Shankara Cancer Hospital in the City. "Though he was treated for Cancer, the infection to body was severe and he succumbed", according to Doctors.
Vice President Venkaiah Naidu paid tributes to the departed soul. A host of political and society leaders including Union Minister for Home Rajnath Singh, former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, BJP National President Amit Shah, RSS Leader Byaji Joshi, Union Minister for Statistics D V Sadananda Gowda, Karnataka Legislative Chairman Basavaraj Horatti, former Deputy Chief Minister R Ashok, Minister D K Shivakumar, were among others who were present during the cremation.
