Monaco Diamond League Event: Neeraj Chopra finishes seventh

Monaco, Jul 22 (UNI) Indian star Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra finished at seventh position at the Monaco Diamond League event here. Chopra, who threw a distance of 78.92m stood seventh out of eight athletes participating in the event. The Indian thrower who had created a record of 85.23m during the recently concluded Asian Athletics Championships at Bhubaneswar clinching gold in the meet failed to maintain the momentum here finishing at seventh spot. Germany's Thomas Rohler clinched gold with a best distance of 89.17m, Czech athlete Jakub Vadlejch silver 85.43m, while it was another German Johannes Vetter bagged bronze. Chopra's 86.48m from the IAAF U20 World Championships last year continues to be his personal best, while his season best stands at 85.63m that he achieved at the Federation Cup in Patiala last month.
