Modi holds talks with Qatari PM; India, Qatar ink 5 pacts
New Delhi, Dec 3 (UNI) India and Qatar today inked five agreements, including the Protocol on Technical Cooperation in cyber space and combating cyber crime. The agreements were signed after delegation talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visiting Qatari counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, who arrived here last evening on a two-day visit. The agreements signed today were in areas such as Visa Exemption for holders of Diplomatic, Special and Official Passports; Technical Cooperation in Cyber Space and Combating Cyber Crime, Letter of Intent regarding Negotiations on an Agreement on Grant of E-Visa for Businessmen and Tourists, and an MoU between Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy of Qatar and CII. Additionally, another MoU aimed at encouraging greater collaboration and exchange in the field of national ports management was also signed. Civil Aviation was identified as among the priority sector for enhancing cooperation. Mr Modi said the visit of the Qatari Prime Minister showed the growing bilateral ties with the Arab country, which India regards as a valued partner. The delegation-level talks reviewed bilateral relations in depth, particularly the follow-up of the landmark decisions taken during PM Modi’s visit to Qatar in June 2016. The two leaders discussed cooperation in various sectors and acknowledged that the current level of trade and investment was much below potential. More UNI SD SW SNU 1934
