New Delhi, Jun 24 (UNI) Taking a dig at the Centre over the rising prices of petrol and diesel, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said the Modi government has failed to control the spread of Corona pandemic and fuel prices.
'The Modi government has "unlocked" the Corona pandemic and petrol-diesel prices,' he said in a tweet.
Alongwith the tweet, the Congress leader tagged a graph with a caption---"Coronavirus is not the only rising curve".
The graph displayed a steady rise in the daily Covid cases and prices of petrol and diesel after the lockdown.
On Tuesday, at a virtual meeting chaired by Congress president Sonia Gandhi, the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the highest decision-making body of the party, had condemned the increases in the prices of petrol and diesel and criticised the government for being unable to control the spread of Corona.
In a resolution, the CWC charged the Modi government with having failed to unveil a coherent
strategy on controlling the COVID pandemic and urged the Centre to provide immediate relief for
those paying exorbitant prices for COVID-19 treatment in private hospitals by capping the prices.
The CWC also expressed its shock and concern over the repeated and unjust increases in petrol and diesel prices as also excise duty over the last three months of lockdown.
