Minister threatens to organize agitation in front of Parliament

Puducherry, Nov 11 (UNI) Puducherry Welfare minister M Kandasamy on Monday threatened to organize agitation in front of the Parliament if the administrator continues to block the implementation of people welfare schemes in the Union Territory.

Speaking at a function to distribute equipment to disabled people here on behalf of the Social Welfare Department, Mr Kandasamy said letters would be written to President of India and Prime Minister apprising them of the happenings and if no action was initiated even after that he would resort to the agitation.

The Minister who distributed equipment worth Rs.8,71,160 to 101 beneficiaries said that people welfare schemes including free rice could not be provided here for the last three years as the Lt.governor and officials were blocking the same.
He said politicians will have to face the people once in five years. But, for officials they will get their salary even if they work or not and hence, a lethargic attitude prevails among the officials here,he added.
Mr Kandasamy said the decision to create 125 Anganwadi worker posts and to fill up over 7,000 vacant government posts were stopped.
