Nashik, Aug 5 (UNI) Minister of State for Rural Development Dadaji Bhuse on Monday visited the flood-ravaged Dhule district, and instructed the concerned authorities to remain present at the district headquarters so as to monitor the situation.
Following intense rain spells in Dhule, the Akkalpada dam is overflowing, and the excess water from the dam has been released at the speed of 28,000 cusec/second into the Panjhra river.
The raging Panjhra river has created a flood-like situation which could create havoc in the Sakri taluka, located in the vicinity.
Reviewing the present situation at the Collector Office, Mr Bhuse was flanked by the higher-ups of the district administration.
Being Dhule's Guardian Minister, Mr Bhuse has directed the power department to restore electricity in the hospitals, and has advised the healthcare services of replenishing the stock of essential drugs, especially snake bite antidotes.
He has ordered the Public Works Department to conduct structural audits of the bridges, and submit a report on it.
Two persons hailing from the Garrad village are reported to be missing, the MoS has asked to launch a search operation for the victims.
As there is forecast of heavy rains in coming days, the administration has appealed not to venture near water bodies.
