Militant killed in encounter by security forces in north Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 22 (UNI) A militant was killed in a fierce encounter by security forces in the frontier district of Kupwara in north Kashmir on Sunday morning, the official sources said. The security forces acting on a tip off about the presence of some militants, launched a search operation at Analwan Langate in Kupwara early Sunday morning. However, as the security forces moved towards a particular area, the militants hiding there opened heavy indiscriminate fire on them. Security forces immediately returned fire ensuing an encounter, they said adding a militant was so far killed. Additional security forces have been rushed to the area from nearby camps to prevent militants to escape. UNI BAS APS 0750
