New Delhi, Apr 9 (UNI) Filmmaker Meghna Gulzar on Monday released the teaser of her next film 'Raazi', a period film about a Kashmiri spy married to a Pakistani man during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.

Posting the teaser of the film, featuring the lead stars Vicky Kaushal and Alia Bhatt, on her social media handle, Meghna said,'She is a Wife. Ardent. Affectionate. '

The teaser features Alia as the Kashmiri spy Sehmat and Vicky Kaushal as her Pakistani husband.

'Raazi' is a period thriller film directed by Meghna Gulzar and produced by Karan Johar.

Featuring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in lead roles, the film is an adaptation of Harinder Sikka’s novel Calling Sehmat, about a Kashmiri spy married to a Pakistani man during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.

The film, scheduled for release on May 11, 2018, has been jointly produced by Vineet Jain of Times along with Karan Johar.

Besides Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal , the film also features Amruta Khanvilkar and Soni Razdan in key roles.

'Raazi' is the fifth directorial venture by Meghna, the daughter of noted Bollywood playwright Gulzaar, who has earlier directed 'Filhaal' (2002), 'Just Married' (2007), 'Dus Kahaniyaan' (2007) and 'Talvar' (2015).

'Talvar', her last directorial venture was based on the Arushi Talvar murder case.
