Meghalaya Governor, CM test positive for Covid19

Shillong, Jan 21 (UNI) Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik and Chief Minister Conrad Sangma have tested positive for Covid-19, state health officials said on Friday.
Governor Malik tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday, while the swab samples of Sangma tested positive on Friday. UNI RRK SSP

“I have tested positive for Covid-19. I am isolating myself for the required time. I have mild symptoms,” the Chief Minister tweeted.
“All those who came into contact with me last few days are requested to observe their symptoms and test if necessary,” Sangma said.
This is the second time the Chief Minister has tested positive for the viral infection.
On Thursday, Sangma and his Assam counterpart Himanta Biswa Sarma had met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and apprised him on the resolution to resolve the first phase of the boundary disputes between the two neighbouring states.
The Chief Minister also did not attend the 50th Statehood function at Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex as he felt inappropriate to be part of a large gathering in the interest of the state after he started developing symptoms of a cold.
Both the Governor and Chief Minister are under home isolation and their health conditions are “stable”, a health official told UNI .
Medical officials are monitoring their health conditions round the clock.
Malik had recently received his booster dose at a vaccination camp organised at the Raj Bhawan, while Sangma is yet yo get his booster.
The Governor had requested citizens who has not yet got vaccinated to get the doses immediately. UNI RRK BM SSP
