Medical facility to be provided to those hit by sunstroke

Gaya, Jun 20 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today assured of all possible health facilities to those hit by heat stroke in the state.
Mr Kumar met those hit by sunstroke at Anugrah Narain Magadh Medical College and Hospital here and assured them of all possible medical facilities. He took detailed information from hospital superintendent, principal and doctors regarding the treatment of patients and gave them several directions.

Chief Minister said people could get rid of 90 per cent of diseases if they did not face the menace of open defecation and have access to safe drinking water. Special emphasis should be given to sanitation and cleanliness, he said adding that public awareness drive should run continuously for it.
Mr Kumar directed doctors to assess the health condition of all those falling victims to sunstroke at the micro level and find out if they did not have symptoms of any other disease. He said details of people dying due to sunstroke should be authenticated soon so that their family members could get ex gratia at the earliest.
Chief Minister directed principal secretary (health department) to prepare a proposal for upgrading Anugarah Narayan Magadh; Medical College and Hospital to 1000-bed hospital.
Mr Kumar also held a review meeting on preparations made to tackle the situation arising out due to incidents of heat stroke and also deal with the situation in event of an outbreak of Japanese Encephalitis at the administrative building of Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital.
Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, state education minister Krishna Nandan Prasad Verma, MP Vijay Manjhi, MLA Rajiv Dangi, MLC Manorma Devi, chief secretary Deepak Kumar, principal secretary (health) Sanjay Kumar, principal secretary (disaster management department) Pratyay Amrit, principal secretary to chief minister Chanchal Kumar, public health engineering department secretary Jitendra Srivastava, Magadh divisional commissioner Pankaj Kumar Pal and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
