Manipur gets less rainfall, crops fail, Cabinet declares drought

Imphal, Aug 31 (UNI)Manipur Cabinet on Saturday declared drought situation in the state.
As per initial estimates, various villages of 70 blocks have crop failure ranging from 33% to more than 50% based on which they are categorised as moderately and severely affected by drought.
The decision would enable the State Government to seek relief assistance from the Government of India. It is estimated that that due to significant deficit in rainfall, drought has adversely affected the crops across 70 blocks of the State.
