Mamata pays homage Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on his death anniversary

Kolkata, Dec 6 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday paid homage to architect of the Constitution of India Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on his death anniversary.
Homage to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, on his death anniversary. The Constitution is the guiding light of our democracy. We must do all we can to protect it,” Ms Banerjee posted on her social networking page.
“The words of the Constitution must inspire our actions,” she added.
Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was popularly known as Babasaheb Ambedkar passed away on this day in 1956
He was the Chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee for the Constitution of independent India on August 29, 1947
Born on April 14, 1891 Babasaheb was a very well-known political leader, eminent jurist, Buddhist activist, philosopher, anthropologist, historian, orator, writer, economist, scholar and editor, too.
Dr. Ambedkar fought to eradicate the social evils like untouchability and for the rights of the dalits and other socially backward classes throughout his life.
He was appointed as India's first Law Minister in the Cabinet of Jawaharlal Nehru.
Dr. Ambedkar was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour in 1990.
