Mallikarjun Kharge chairs meeting of Cong Delhi unit to discuss LS poll strategy

New Delhi, Aug 16 (UNI) Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday chaired a meeting with the Delhi party unit at All India Congress Committee headquarters in the National Capital.
The meeting was called to discuss the poll strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha election, key appointments in the unit, and a possible tie-up between the Congress and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
The meeting lasted for four hours in which 40 leaders attended it and gave their opinion on the issues.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and General Secretary KC Venugopal and senior party leaders, including Ajay Maken, Haroon Yusuf, Krishna Tirath, and Sandeep Dikshit, were among others present at the meeting.
The meeting was also significant as Parliament recently passed The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, (GNCTD) in which the opposition MPs including Congress staged a walkout from the Lok Sabha.
“In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha election, discussions have been held with the leaders of Delhi Congress today.
Innovation of @INCDelhi is our priority, in which participation of all leaders and workers is necessary. We had made Delhi prosperous and happy, our struggle for the people of Delhi continues even further,” Kharge tweeted.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Delhi Congress in-charge Deepak Babaria said, "Today's meeting was about the strategy for the coming Lok Sabha election".
"The Discussions were held on which issues we would be vocal about in the upcoming election, and the strategic policy on which the congress will proceed".
The Congress had, in early June, appointed Deepak Babaria, one of the party’s senior leaders from Gujarat, as the in-charge of Delhi and Haryana.
Babaria has since undertaken a slew of meetings with leaders representing each of the seven Lok Sabha segments of the National capital, collating feedback and suggestions from party representatives.
