New Delhi, Jun 6 (UNI) The Union and the Delhi governments have been urged to take preventive measures and create awareness as experts at IIT (ISM), Dhanbad, have predicted a major earthquake in Delhi-NCR soon.
The IIT's departments of applied geophysics and seismology on Friday forecast that a major quake may hit city, NCR in the coming days.
" Time has come for the Union and Delhi governments to take all required measures for its prevention and create awareness," said P K Khan, Professor at the applied geophysics department and the head of the seismology department at IIT (ISM), Dhanbad.
Delhi-NCR has experienced 11 tremors in the past two months, which shows an increase in the accumulation of strain energy, the professor said.
" Recurrent tremors of small magnitudes indicate a bigger earthquake," Mr Khan opined.
