Major gold haul in Karipur

Kozhikode, Aug 14 (UNI) A continuation of the gold smuggling instances through Calicut International Airport in Karipur near here, the Air Customs Intelligence on Saturday confiscated over two-and-a-half kilograms of gold worth over a crore while it was being smuggled out of the airport.
Customs sources said two passengers from Gulf have been arrested in connection with the smuggling.
A road accident in Ramanattukara near here few months ago had exposed the active functioning of gold smuggling racket as well as stealer gangs operating around the airport area.
