Kolhapur, April 22 (UNI) In a politically significant development, Congress leader Vishal Patil refused to withdraw his candidature from Maharashtra's Sangli Lok Sabha constituency on Monday and opted to contest as an independent.
Patil will be contesting against Maha Vikas Aghadi-backed Shiv Sena (UBT) nominee Chandrahar Patil .
The revolt by Patil, who is the grandson of former chief minister Vasantdada Patil, has set the stage for a three-way contest in Sangli, where the BJP has given the party ticket to Sanjaykaka Ramchandra Patil.
