Entertainment » OtherPosted at: Aug 18 2016 10:12PM Mahanadi Banchao Abhijan committee constituted Mahanadi water dispute issueBhubaneswar, Aug 18 (UNI) Mahanadi Banchao Abhijan (Save Mahanadi Campaign) committee constituted today, in consultation with the representatives of 16 Opposition Political parties, has decided to organise a massive convention on Mahanadi at Bhubaneswar on Mahanadi water dispute issue by September 10. Mahanadi became a major dispute between Odisha and Chhattisgarh after news reports appeared in media that unilateral construction of a number of dams and barrages by the Chhattisgarh government on the upstream of Mahandi, considered as the lifeline of Odisha would check water flow, affect irrigation, Power generation, the multi purpose Hirakud dam and livelihood of millions of people of the state. A delegation of all party comprising of 16 opposition political parties, barring the ruling BJD submitted a memorandum to the President through the Governor on August 14 last to intervene and resolve the issue.
