Mah Oppn critisies ED's move on MNS chief, Unmesh Joshi in IL&FS-related case

Mumbai, Aug 19 (UNI) The Opposition parties in Maharashtra on Monday slammed the Enforcement Directorate (ED)’s move of summoning Maharashtra Navnirman Sena president Raj Thackeray and former Lok Sabha Speaker Manohar Joshi’s son Unmesh, in an IL&FS-related case.
“This is nothing but bulldozing tactics by the Bharatiya Janata Party government against the Opposition. Mr Thackeray had raised several pertinent issues before the people before the Lok Sabha elections and is now being targeted,” said state Congress president Balasaheb Thorat here.
Leader of Opposition in the state Council and senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader, Dhananjay Munde, said that Mr Thackeray had exposed the BJP-Shiv Sena during the election campaign and hence he has now been slapped with an ED notice.
“You speak out against us? Get an ED notice… What kind of dirty politics is being played…” Mr Munde demanded, vowing that the people of the state will make the BJP-Sena bite the dust in upcoming state assembly elections.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the new Hiter… Why no BJP leaders are being probed,” demanded MNS spokesperson Sandeep Deshpande.
Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana chief Raju Shetti termed the ED move against Mr Thackeray as a ‘witchhunt’ for criticising the Lok Sabha elections outcome and launching a campaign against electronic voting machines (EVMs).
“Anybody who attacks the government face repercussions from the ED and the Income-Tax department, they are being brow-beated, but it will have no effect,” Mr Shetti added.
In contrast, Shiv Sena spokesperson and MP Sanjay Raut said he found "nothing unusual" in ED moves against both MrThackeray, Mr Joshi.
The ED is investigating purported irregularities of the IL&FS's loan and investments worth over Rs 850 crore in the Joshi-owned Kohinoor CTNL, a realty firm which is building the Kohinoor Squares Tower at Dadar (west) in central Mumbai.
