Aurangabad, Jun 6 (UNI) The Marathwada region of Maharashtra recorded 937 new cases of COVID-19 and 42 fatalities during the past 24 hours, informed health authorities on Sunday.
Details from all the district headquarters collected by UNI show that out of the eight districts of the region, Latur district was worst-affected as it recorded 16 new cases and 16 deaths, followed by Aurangabad which had 211 cases and 11 deaths, Beed had 243 new cases and 6 deaths, Parbhani 37 cases and 4 deaths, Osmanabad recorded 117 cases and 2 deaths, Jalna 28 cases and 2 deaths, Hingoli had 25 cases and single death and Nanded had 126 cases and one death.
Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours, 13,669 fresh cases of COVID-19 were recorded across the state, taking the total number of infections to 58,19,224.
The state also registered 300 more deaths, taking the death toll to 99,512.
Meanwhile, 21,776 patients recovered in the state, taking the total number of recoveries to 55,28,834.
The state's recovery rate jumps to 95.01 per cent while the fatality rate stands at 1.71 per cent.
At present, there are 1,88,027 active cases across the state undergoing treatment at various COVID-19 centres and hospitals, added the health authorities.
