Left parties protest against fuel price hike, say people suffering under 'callous' Modi govt

New Delhi, Sept 10 (UNI) Hitting hard at Narendra Modi government, the Left parties on Monday said under this ‘callous’ government, crony capitals are looting public money, and that only fuel price, Non- Performing Assets (NPAs), ‘jumlas’ and propaganda are rising.
Left parties, including the Communist Party of India- M (CPI-M), the Communist Party of India (CPI) protested near Jantar Mantar against the rising fuel price and other essential commodities.
While the main opposition party Congress called for a Bharat Bandh, the Left parties decided to observe a separate nationwide protest hartal.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi also joined at the protest site led by Left parties.
Speaking at the event, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury said all people should protest in the strongest manner to force the ‘anti-people’ government to reduce fuel prices by cutting excise duty drastically”.
Later in a series of tweets, the Communist Party leader criticised the government, “fuel prices allowed to soar, by a callous government, making lives of ordinary Indians impossible.”
“Most appropriate that Modi photos are at all petrol stations. But People paying for the Rs 4343 crore spent on these farzi (fake) ads. Shameful”, Mr Yechury mocked.
He further said that high fuel prices are a direct outcome of gross economic mismanagement under Mr Modi.
“He or his ministers don't have the empathy for suffering people to offer any solace. Only more slogans and PR is what they offer”, he criticised.
In another tweet the CPI(M) general secretary said “Jobs are lost. The Rupee is crashing. Farm sector faces an unprecedented crisis. Exports, Manufacturing, all run into the ground by this Modi government”.
Furthering his attack on the Modi government, Mr Yechury alleged that just few cronies are benefiting from government’s policies.
“It steamrolls ordinary Indians who suffer under fuel prices surging every day. Oil price hikes of this order, will raise prices of everything”, he added.
