Kolkata Police Commissioner to appear before CBI again on Tuesday

Shillong, Feb 11 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will continue to question Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar for the fourth consecutive day on Tuesday, in connection with the Saradha and Rose Valley chit fund scams.
While former Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Kunal Ghosh, who was grilled for two consecutive days, can leave Shillong on Tuesday, after the investigation team completed the process of questioning.
''They were again confronted against each other, face-to-face. We have asked Kumar to appear again on Tuesday for further examination on Rose Valley chit fund scam,'' a CBI official said, on the condition of anonymity.
Ghosh, who was arrested on November 23, 2013 in connection with the chit fund scam, has arrived in Shillong.

The Calcutta High Court had granted Ghosh interim bail against a bail bond of Rs two lakh in 2016.

On Saturday, the Kolkata Police Commissioner was interrogated by CBI for eight hours, at a stretch.

''There is no question of not cooperating. He has cooperated before and is doing now, too. We are here because of the Supreme Court order,'' Kumar's legal counsel Biswajit Deb, had told reporters on Saturday.

Following the apex court order, the CBI set up a fresh 10-member probing team on Thursday, which summoned the Kolkata Police top officer to appear at a designated place in Shillong on February 9.
The apex court on Tuesday directed Kumar to cooperate with the CBI, barely 48 hours after a team of the central investigating agency was denied entry into the residence of the city police chief and herded to the Shakespeare Police station and detained for hours.
