Kisan Sansad passes 'Bills' for Assured Minimum Price and loan waiver for indebted farmers

Kisan Sansad passes 'Bills' for Assured Minimum Price and loan waiver for indebted farmers

New Delhi, Nov 20 (UNI) Farmers participating in the All India Kisan Sangharsh Committee (AIKSCC) agitation at Parliament Street here have sought a Farmers’ Commission that will provide immediate loan waiver to indebted farmers and to provide continuous relief to those farmers who are in distress due to indebtedness.
They have also suggested that the Minimum Support Price for farm commodities be replaced by 'Assured Minimum Price' which will have at least 50 per cent profit margin over and above the comprehensive cost of production of the farm commodity.
The two key demands formed the basis of two 'Bills' that were 'passed' in the Kisan Sansad here by raising of hands.
'The Farmers’ Freedom from Debt Bill, 2017' was presented by Hanna Mullah of All-India Kisan Sabha and 'The Farmers’ Right to Assured Prices for Agricultural Produce Bill, 2017' was presented by Raju Shetty of Swabhimani Shetkari Sangathan.
The two `Bills’ espouse the cause of farmers, said the office bearers of AIKSCC.
The Bills will be presented in Parliament as private member’s Bills by member of Parliament Raju Shetty, V M Singh of AIKSCC told the UNI.
Farmers form 20 states, their representatives, women farmers, widows of farmers who had committed suicides were among those who participated in the Kisan Sansad organised by the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC), a conglomeration of over 180 farmers’ organisations.

The visiting farmers have been put up at the Ram Lila grounds here.
