Kimono set to represent 196 nations at Tokyo Games

Tokyo, Apr 20 (UNI) A project is under way to create kimono illustrating the culture of each of 196 countries including Japan, aiming to showcase them at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, a Jiji Press report has said.
A long-sleeved kimono with an obi belt, representing the nature, culture and history of Russia, was unveiled at an event held at the Russian Embassy in Tokyo on Wednesday.
The kimono, made in Kyoto, depicts the State Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg, taiga trees in Siberia, the Soyuz spacecraft and swans from the ballet “Swan Lake.”
