Khurshid statement is Congress' admission, Rahul should apologise: BJP

New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) Terming statement of former Union Minister Salman Khurshid, as the 'confession of the Congress', the Bharatiya Janata Party said on Tuesday that now Congress president Rahul Gandhi should apologise to the country for the sins committed by his party.
Senior BJP leader and national spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain told UNI that this was not a statement of Mr Khurshid but the acknowledgement of Congress' connivance.
'After Independence, the Congress has been dividing the country and society in a systematic manner,' he alleged, adding that 'there are so many scars of riots on the Congress that they cannot be cleaned'.
Mr Hussain said that Congress has been garnering Muslim votes by scaring the minority community with riots, and Mr Khurshid has accepted this.' Better late than never,' the Union Minister added.
He said Mr Khurshid have confessed to riots.
'He has been the Law and Minority Affairs Minister in the UPA Government,' the Minister said.
'The Congress, which has organised thousands of riots, calls itself secular. Mr Khurshid's statement has proved that the Congress party is guilty of riots.
Mr Rahul Gandhi should apologise to the country,' he said.
Mr Khurshid was addressing students at Aligarh Muslim University on Monday when he was asked about riots that had targeted minorities and he had said 'there is blood on our hands. I am also a part of the Congress so let me say it, we have blood on our hands. Is this why you are trying to tell us that if someone attacks you, we must not come forward to protect you?"
The Congress leader had defended his remarks on Tuesday that his party has "blood on its hands", saying that he made the controversial statement "as a human being".
