Bhopal, Dec 10 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister P Vijayan’s sojourn in the Madhya Pradesh capital has stirred up a hornet’s nest. Communist Party of India (Marxist) state Secretary Badal Saroj alleged that the visiting politician was not provided adequate security cover. “Consequently, the dignitary proved unable to attend an apolitical function – by Keralite organisations – to felicitate him this evening,” Mr Saroj told UNI. In the words of the CPI(M) leader, this afternoon a police officer met the Chief Minister – at a hotel where the latter was staying – and said that certain organisations’ activists are attempting a demonstration and foolproof security could not be provided. As per schedule, Mr Vijayan left for Kerala tonight. Earlier, he did attend a CPI(M) programme. Accusing the state dispensation of throwing a spanner in the works, Mr Saroj added that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is running the regime. For his part, the principal opposition Congress Chief Spokesperson KK Mishra demanded that the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister should take the responsibility for what happened and issue a public apology to his Kerala counterpart. “Nineteen Bajrang Dal workers were placed under arrest for staging a demonstration. The visiting politician was requested to wait until the demonstrators were dispersed. Later, I and the Collector met the Chief Minister and said that he may attend the function,” Deputy Inspector General (Bhopal Urban) Raman Singh Sikarwar averred. UNI PKJ-AC VS 0059
