Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 7 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan tonight said he was contacted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi over phone about the plane accident at Kozhikode International Airport in Karipur.
The Chief Minister, who also expressed shock over the tragic accident, informed the Prime Minister that a team of officials including Kozhikode and Malappuram District Collectors have been rushed to the Kozhikode International Airport to coordinate the rescue operations.
He said all the Government agencies have been directed to engage in rescue operations using all the facilities.
He said Minister for local bodies, A C Moideen has been deputed to coordinate the rescue operations.
Mr Moideen had already left for Karipur from Thrissur, he added.
Mr Vijayan also said that an IG of Police has been deputed to oversee the rescue operations.
Fire and Rescue teams of two districts also have been engaged.
Health authorities have been instructed to provide all possible medical aid to save lives of victims, the Chief Minister added.
